I was recently approached by Vitamin ( ThinkVItamin.com ) to write some design tutorials for their online mag. Super stoked on the opportunity and honored they asked me.
For my first article I am going to write a tutorial on the patented :) Drew Wilson "Light Effects" (example is at the top left of my web page). This will be my first tutorial ever written, though I have taught many people many things face to face :)
Question for you guys... what would you like to see or learn in this tutorial relating to the Light Effects? Its going to be a photoshop tutorial, so keep that in mind. I think it could be cool if I am able to answer any questions you have about Light Effects in this tutorial, so please let me know your thoughts :)
Peace,
Drew

1) I'd like to know how easy it would be to do in previous versions of Photoshop as well as Fireworks CS3. I do a lot of my web page layout designs in FW so the more I can stay within the app itself that better. But I realize that it may not be possible since Photoshop has way more effects and plugins available to it.
2) I'd also like to see some color theory mixed in with the tutorial. I'm a self taught web designer and would love to benefit from your knowledge in that area. Maybe that's asking too much but hey I figured why not ask. ;)
A suggestion for another tutorial or blog post may be a workflow tutorial. I've found without a good work flow it becomes easy to flounder in a project. I'm always looking to better mine and I'd be interested in what useful nuggets you've found over the years. I recognize that everybody's will be different to some degree but learning, refining and making it your own is part of the process.
Congrats on the the Vitamin invite!
Cheers Drew, keep up the great work!
Personally, I've always wanted to learn about light effects and how to implement them into designs, but have never known where to even start. I've looked, and looked, and haven't been able to find a single good tutorial - that's easy to follow and implement into my own designs - anywhere online. So I'm stoked to see what you have to share.
I think what I'm most interested to learn about is what type of light effects you have in your toolbox, and how you go about deciding when and how to implement them.
